Welcome to Petra National Trust
We promotes best practices in cultural and natural heritage preservation and management in Jordan, the region, and beyond.
Established in 1989, National Heritage Trust is a Jordanian, non-governmental, non-profit organization. It is Jordan’s oldest national organization for cultural heritage preservation. Initially focused on preserving the values and significance of the UNESCO World Heritage site of Petra, today PNT’s work covers cultural, archeological and World Heritage sites in Jordan and the region.
The president of Petra National Trust and UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Cultural Heritage, HRH Princess Dana Firas, oversees the implementation of PNT’s mission and vision.
Petra National Trust responds to the urgent need to protect, preserve, and conserve the archaeological and cultural heritage of Jordan and the region and plays a significant role in international advocacy for cultural heritage.
What We Do
PNT believes that cultural heritage preservation is intricately connected to sustainability, social and economic development and environmental conservation.
Preservation
Preserving heritage sites, to wildlife conservation and implementing an education program for children based on cultural heritage values.
Education
We invest in cultural heritage to address the challenges of the present and build a better future.
Advocacy
We are involved at various levels to improve outreach and understanding of the importance of cultural heritage in development.
Community Development (Woman & Youth Empowerment)
Cultural heritage is a foundation for a thriving local economy, and PNT helps achieve this through socio-economic development projects that are based on cultural heritage values.
Climate Heritage
In 2015, the year world leaders signed the Paris Agreement and committed to the Sustainable Development Goals, we called for the adoption of an 18th SDG on Culture and Heritage.
